Q&A: Fireplace brick cleaner?

Question by autumn: Fireplace brick cleaner?
My fireplace brick has gotten a film of soot build up on the outside of the fire place. Between the doors and the mantel. I've tried scrubbing with comet and scrub brush, but it's not coming off. Any ideas?
